Compression, or suppression wires, keep electrical emissions from radiating through the wires. They are designed to help reduce noise in car radios.

Spark plug, wires, low compression due to burnt valve, blown head gasket, or cracked head. A simple compression test will eliminate some items. Start by replacing the plugs & plug wires.

A diesel engine doesn't have spark plugs or spark plug wires.
Run a compression test.
The compression tester has a plug that goes in the spark plug hole and reads the compression within the cylinder. Remove the sparkplugs. (Mark the plug wires with masking tape so you can put them back where they belong) Insert the compression tester and have someone activate the starter and roll the engine over a few times.
You distributor cap and rotor should also be replaced. If still no spark. check the compression on the low cylinders to see if you have good compression.
Do a compression test to determine condition of engine internals
