What are details about the Ithaca Nitro Special Shotgun?

Nitro Specials were not graded as they were all "Field Grade" shotguns. Your serial number would be in the first year of production, 1921 according to one source but 1922 in another. (Pay me for the research time and I'll find out which one is correct.) I suspect that the 1o-o's indicate the choke, but don't know how Ithaca's code. For a 12 gauge, if a dime fits the muzzle loosly, it's open; snug, it's modified; won't go in, full.

I would say that with the serial number 1321XX,we are looking at your shotgun being made by ithaca(who made the lefever nitro special) in 1924.

The lefever Nitro special was made by Ithaca Arms from 1921-1948.That being said i believe that yours was made in 1927.I do know that you can contact Ithaca arms and they will date your shotgun for you.

The Nitro Special was introduced in 1921 and discontinued in 1947. Yours is fairly late, probably late 1930's.AnswerIthaca Firearms manufactured the Lefever Nitro Special (A Grade) with serial numbers between 357300 and 361199 in 1947. This was the last year that model was made.
