Carpentry tools are specialized instruments used in woodworking to shape, cut, and assemble materials, primarily wood. Common tools include a saw (for cutting wood), a hammer (for driving nails), a chisel (for carving or shaping wood), and a tape measure (for measuring lengths). Additional tools like levels, squares, and drills assist in ensuring precision and accuracy in carpentry projects. Together, these tools enable carpenters to create structures, furniture, and various wooden items.
Standard tools such as measuring tape, hammer and nails, screwdriver or stillson wrench are very common. Specific tools would depend on occupation or hobby. For instance, carpentry workers would have sets of tools very different from do-it-yourselves or motor vehicle repairmen.

(from the persons who wrote this question) Medieval carpentry went through many changes in the medieval period. 15th century: tools became more like today's tools. Different jobs in carpentry had different social status. The art/craft of making and constructing objects out of wood : I am researching this question for my PhD. I believe carpentry started in England about AD 1180 in the South East. I have plenty of evidence for this. I am researching dendro dated buildings in Hampshire from c1180 to 1530 (about 105 buildings in all). Though there are many more houses in Hampshire, I am only interested in dendro dated buildings. The earliest vernacular house so far is 1280, but there are earlier buildings. Please feel free to visit my website www.medievalarchitecture.net to find out more. : Richard
