Some believe that he was literally resurrected; some believe symbolic. Some of Jesus' disciples did not recognize the resurrected Jesus. Some religions believed that he was resurrected in spirit only.

Answer:The Swoon Theory: This theory dismisses the resurrection by contending that Jesus never really died on the cross; instead He merely fainted and was later revived.

The Twin Theory: This theory contends that Jesus had an identical twin that took His place on the cross.

The Muslim Theory: From a Muslim perspective, Jesus was never crucified and, thus, never resurrected.

The Watchtower Theory: The Jehovah Witnesses claim Jesus was not physically resurrected but was recreated as an invisible spirit creature. They assert that a physical resurrection would not have been a tremendous triumph; it would have been a hopeless humiliation.

Jesus Christ was put on earth to save our souls, he voluntarily was crucified on a cross to take the punishment for our sins so we would turn back to God, repent, and accept salvation. Then he was resurrected back to life, three days after he died. Apostle Thomas even put his own hands on Jesus after he was brought back to life.

What does the resurrection of Jesus Christ mean?

The earliest manuscripts of Mark's Gospel end at verse 16:8, with the young man saying that Jesus is risen, and the women fleeing in terror, telling no one. Clearly the resurrection is important, because the "Long Ending" (verses 16:9-25) was added much later to provide resurrection appearances. Although each gospel provides quite different accounts of just what happened after the resurrection of Jesus, Christians believe that the resurrection means that Jesus is the Son of God.
