A dragonfly is a flying insect that is characterized by a long narrow body, large eyes and transparent wings. The dragonfly is carniverous and feeds on other small insects, such as mosquitos or flies. The larvae of the dragonfly are aquatic, living initially in water until developing into the adult form. Globally, there are over 5600 species of dragonfly.
