They look like apes

Answer:

Early humans apparently picked up our human looking characteristics slowly. There are may types each with their own adaptations, Fine points like skin and hair colour are unknown but arms and legs for an upright posture were an early modification. Hands and feet changed to allow our thumbs to have a better ability to grasp and our arched to support out weight as we walked. The head changed to allow our bigger brain and smaller jaws so the face became more human and less apelike
