Elements are composed of atoms, which are made up of: protons, neutrons, and electrons. The number of protons in one atom of an element is equal to the periodic number of the element. If the element is in it's standard state(has no charge), then the number of electrons are equal to the number of protons. the number of neutrons can be determined by taking the Atomic Mass and subtracting the number of protons.

For example 1 K (Potassium) atom has:
19 Protons
20 Neutrons
19 Electrons
