Well first off, Odysseus is also referred to as Ulysses. He was the son of Laertes and was the ruler of the island kingdom of Ithaca. Ulysses is mostly known for his role in theTrojan War. In the Trojan War, he was a war hero that contributed greatly to the Greek side. He is also known for his role in Homer's, (not Homer Simpson, Homer the ancient Greek author.) Odyssey. The Odyssey, is the tale of when Ulysses tries to go back to his Island of Ithaca after the Trojan War. The only problem is that when he was born his prophecy said that it would take him ten years to reach his home after the war. Throughout his journey, he encounters many drawbacks. Such as Lotus Eaters and a magical pig lady. (read the book for more information)

Ulysses was also a great speaker, he was very influential He was brave, clever and cunning.
