According to Public Health England, reported cases of Scarlet Fever in the country are on the rise. Between September 2013 and March 2014, there were 2,830 known cases of Scarlet Fever in England however between the same period from 2014/15 there were 5,746 cases. The reason for this dramatic increase is not yet known.

80% of all known cases of Scarlet Fever in England occur in children under 10, however the illness can affect anyone. If you believe you have scarlet fever, you should contact your GP and follow their advice. There is currently no vaccination for the illness however cases of Scarlet Fever tend to clear up within 14 days after starting the appropriate course of antibiotics.
