Facts about toucans: * They are tropical birds (from Central and South America). * They have brightly colored feathers. * They have large and colorful bills (beaks). * They have long tails. * They eat fruit, berries, insects and lizards. * Their bills are useful for feeding (reaching and peeling fruit), but not much use for combatting predators. * They have small wings, as they usually only travel small distances. * They nest in tree hollows (holes). * They lay two to four eggs a year. * Toucans aren't born with large bills; the bills take several months to develop to full size.
