#1:

Banjo music originated on the banks of the Mississippi when young men would play their banjos hoping to lure young maidens across the river to their farms and away from the farms of their fathers. The maidens would often cross in the nude due to how cumbersome their petticoats were.

#2:

A banjo originally had a square body. However, due to the need to play it whilst resting the body on their knee, the musicians began to add on extra "wings" to create a circular shape. Over time, those who manufactured the banjo decided to simply change the overall shape.

#3:

Every year, in some rural areas in the southern US, there is a ceremonial crossing of the river for all young maidens about to be wed, done solely to traditional banjo music to signify the history and tradition of the banjo. (see #1) As tradition dictates, the young maidens are all in the nude and the males are wearing nothing but tattered denim overalls. The maidens go toward whichever young man they feel is playing the most alluring banjo music. Although not required, the young men are encouraged to improvise/play an original song. After the maidens cross the river and choose their lover, they go off into their chosen "wedding bush" by their family "crik" and consummate their love.
