The first usable compound microscope people used was about 1655 by Robert hooke! :)
Robert Hooke first viewed cells with a microscope. He began calling them cells because they resembled the cells in which monks lived and worked.
Robert Hooke used a compound microscope to make his scientific observations. He designed and built his own microscopes, which allowed him to discover and describe a variety of biological structures, including cells, in his studies.
Robert Hooke saw the cell of cork in his own made primitive microscope. He named them cellulae which meant small rooms. He published this in his book Micrographia.
Robert Hooke discovered and coined the term "cell" after observing the small structures in cork under his microscope. He also made other important biological observations, such as the structure of fossils and plant anatomy.
