nThe males like to "puddle". Puddling is gathering at mud or sandy puddling and sipping minerals from the moisture. Create a mud or sandy puddle in your yard to attract these butterflies.

Zebra Swallowtail butterflies or Eurytides marcellus (latin name), are generally black with white stripes. They do have small red spots on the lower wings, towards the inside. I have seen other variations of this though. (Some the white is a light bluish or greenish in color but you really have to look good to see it.) The markings on the underside are pretty much the same with the exception of a line of red that runs across the lower wings, almost in a J form. Some also have small blue spots on the top side of wings, lower section. The body is white on both sides with black down the center. I am not for sure what the difference is in the male and female. All have beautiful long tails. Wing span is 2 1/2 - 3 inches wide. Spectacular sight to see!
the zebra swallowtail has triangular wings with long tails. it has some distinctive black and white markings on its wings and some small red and blue markings on both bottom corners of the wings.
they only like to eat polen from flower like bees they only live up to 9 years if they live longer they might've eaten to much polen and if so they can be poisonous and get crazy and eat ladybugs and moths
