Oxygen is a colorless odorless gaseous element. It is colorless as a gas, yet pale blue in color when a liquid. It is found in water, in most rocks and minerals, and in numerous organic compounds. Oxygen is capable of combining with all elements except the inert gases. Both solid and liquid oxygen contain unpaired electrons. Oxygen is in 21% of the atmosphere. Oxygen in the air is the ordinary form which contains 2 atoms per molecule, but oxygen in the atmosphere has 3 atoms per molecule.
