They don't eat - the Cullens are "vegetarian vampires" - they only eat animal blood. other vampires in the book do eat human blood. Vampires' skin is ice cold to the touch and hard, extremely white, and flawlessly smooth like marble. When they go out in the sun, their skin gives off a sparkling glow like diamonds are embedded in their skin. Vampires have inhuman beauty. They are extremely graceful and have voices that are described as silky and sweet like honey (Edward), and high-pitched soprano that sound like wind chimes (Alice) for example. Their voices are alluring to humans. The color of their eyes is different as well. Vegetarian vampires have golden topaz eyes that get darker to black the longer they have been hunting, When they hunt animals, it goes back to gold. Vampires that drink human blood have red eyes. They have an irresistable sweet scent. Vampires also have inhuman strength and speed. Some vampires have special powers such as mind-reading or precognition, but only several few.
