Galvanized nails are nails treated with Zinc to prevent rusting and other types of corrosion. They are generally used in circumstances where the area may be exposed to drastic elements (humidity, wetness etc.).
They are mostly used in applications where they will be exposed to the elements outdoors. They are galvanized to prevent rust.
At home depot or maybe at your closest dollar store, they have a lot of different types of nails, but be careful what they say because they might be screws instead.
Yes.
Roofing nails have large, flat heads to hold down shingles, andtypically have a rough, galvanized coating. Standard box nails have smaller heads that are also flat, and the sizes are specifiedby penny - 4-penny nails are small, like what might be used to put a birdhouse together, 16-penny nails are the big ones commonly used for framing walls, etc.

This is always really a question of personal preference, but I think screws are the better way to go. Nails usually work themselves out after a while. The heat and the cold as well as the effect of the elements tend to make the nails work out. Screws take a little more work to install, but don' usually work their way out like nails will. Good luck. Without a doubt, screws. Make sure they are galvanized, stainless or coated.
galvanised nails are nails that are coated with stuff to make the nails not rust -sorry if my answer is not correct for i am only a yr sevener edits (by CHRISTINE CT): galvanized nails are coated with zinc if this doesn't help, here are some websites you can use: -http://www.tremontnail.com/faqs.htm -http://www.wisegeek.com/what-are-galvanized-nails.htm -http://www.finishing.com/225/42.shtml

Any nails in the new treated material should be galvanized.
Normally nails aren't made of an alloy however they are galvanized, this means they have a coating of a less reactive metal such as Zinc as to prevent rusting of the nails. Nails are normally made out of iron.
Shearadized is a metal coating for nails, bolts, washers, nuts and so on, that is similar to Galvanized.
It is possible that galvanized bolts will have zinc in them. And zinc can harm a maple treee if it is introduced into the tree itself. Copper nails will kill a tree.
Its usually a lot duller, while non galvanised nails are shiny.
