I don't know; I have never eaten one. Seriously, it depends on the type of fish you are after and the water conditions, but generally the Shad Rap line of Rapala lures have been quite successful. I use them primarily for bass and walleye. Also recommended for northern pike or muskie. Sometimes an overly aggressive crappie will take one as well.
There are several lures which are effective for salmon fishing. Spoon lures are considered to be the best as these resemble tiny fish, which captures the salmon's interest. Plugs and spinners can also be a good choice.
Most Rapala, Shimano, and Regal reels are good for salmon.(With 4 ball bearing and more)
