A good poem for a year 7 student to read is "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost. This poem talks about making choices in life and the paths we choose to take. It's a thought-provoking piece that can encourage reflection and discussion among students.

Dork Diaries has a very nice and easy to understand text which is good for most 6, 7 and 8 year olds. However it has dating drama and "mean girl madness" in it. It's not good for a young kid (most girls read it) but I feel that a girl with a minimum age of 7 could read it.

There is an adorable video on YT where a newly turned 8 year old discusses her favorite books she's been reading. Search Birdie760 and I think it's called "Great books for 8 year olds to read on their own". I hope this helps.
