Mostly wood for the outer cases. There are many kits available for building your own, or one may buy these at a reputable clock shop.

The exterior of most clocks is wood, many having a glass cover over the clock face, or a glass window exposing the pendulum and works. The actual clockwork mechanism and gears are made of metal.
