What are hedgehogs used for?

In todays world hedgehogs are only used for pets in the USA. But in the UK (Where hedgehogs originate from) they are put in gardens to catch bugs and other pests. Hedgehogs are Omnivores and incectivores. So you can imagine that they would love those bugs! Back a few decades they were put in kitchens to keep out little mice and bugs out of the kitchen. Yes, hedgehogs do eat baby mice (Depending on the hedgie).

Well hedgehogs have their spikes for self-defence, protection and all that but I don't know if there are any commercial uses for hedgehog spikes.
