Chemicals made up of only hydrogen and carbon. All hydrocarbon are fuels.

Petrol, methylated spirit (meths), natural gas and coal are all hydrocarbons (but they have impurities such as sulphur/sulfur).

What are the advantages and diadvantages of using hydrcarbons as a fuel?

Hydrocarbons, such as gasoline and natural gas, are highly energy-dense fuels that provide efficient combustion, making them widely used for transportation and electricity generation. Their availability and established infrastructure make them convenient; however, the combustion of hydrocarbons releases greenhouse gases and pollutants, contributing to climate change and air quality issues. Additionally, reliance on fossil fuels can lead to geopolitical tensions and resource depletion. Transitioning to renewable energy sources is essential to mitigate these disadvantages.
