A field of great accomplishment and importance was medicine and medical practices in ancient Egypt. Though it is said that Hippocrates was the Father of Medicine, Imhotep, a high Priest in Ancient Egypt is who some believe is the real Father. Through inspection of the workers of Imhotep's famous Step Pyramid, it has been discovered that they had injuries healed through surgeries and splints, done by Imhotep, hundreds of years before Hippocrates was even born. The most extensive surgery was a man who had a piece of his skull removed to release brain pressure, this hole had already started to heal, so it is proven that this was a brain surgery, done in around 3000 B.C.!
