Over the last few weeks I have been watching and photog ladybeetles.
When newly hatched, they are a butter yellow! I'd never heard of that. They take about 1 day to change colour.

They hatch from an elongate egg laid in groups of a dozen, under a leaf. The caterpillar they hatch into is very active and looks like a miniature Komodo Dragon. They are about as active in walking as a fly is. At least one of the chrysalises was eaten by a caterpillar phase!
