I want to convert my touch lamp into a push button lamp who do I hook up the wires
Assuming the wires are 2 blacks and 2 whites, and assuming one set provides power and the other set continues the circuit downline, you connect both black wires to the black wire of the lamp holder and connect both white wires to the white wire of the lamp holder. Turn the circuit off before making these connections.
If the tri-light needs a new lamp holder try any reputable lighting house store. These types of retailers have all of the parts that you need to repair any lamp configurations. The new switch will have a rotary switch built into it just like the lamp had when it was new. There are only two wires to connect to it. Don't disconnect the old one until you have the new one and just put the wires on the same terminals as the they are wires on the old switch.
No! Most lamp cords are made with 18 guage wire, some speaker wire is made with 18 guage wire too but the insualtion of the wire is very different. Both wires have insulation for their intended uses. Supplying a lamp with line voltage and supplying a speaker with low voltage are very different. The speaker wire is not meant to carry line voltage and may overheat and or melt.
Electrical wires are made from copper, as copper is a good conductor of electricity.

a test lamp i literrally a bulb connected to two wires. it was used to check if you had any current or voltage in a circuit. you would just take the build with the two wires and touch it with the curcuit. if the bulb lights up means that you have a complete circuit if not it means that the curcuit is working. The test lamp is like a medival tool to a multimeter
