Lightning is a sudden, large discharge of electricity. It contains nothing but electrons and neutrons as a discharge of electrons from clouds to the ground. In other words, a giant spark of Electricity !
[Lighting--with no 'n' after the 't' is something that makes light, like a light bulb.]
Lightning bolts are energy, represented by the movement of large negative and positive charges.
Lightning bolts originate when a positively charged cloud forms a connection to another cloud that has a negative charge, or discharges to the ground. The lightning bolt's power is related to the size of the clouds. The bigger the clouds are, the more positive and more negative charges they contain, and may release into the nearest ground.

There are several theories as to what causes lightning. The most widely accepted is that water and ice particles that are up in the storm cloud collide into each other. This causes friction. Friction thus in return, causes static electricity. This buildup of static electricity has to find an opposing electric charged object in order to discharge. This could be another cloud, an object on earth or the ground. A lightning bolt is a big static electric discharge. Lightning tries to find the path of least resistance to ground in order to discharge.
bye :)
Lightning that you see is air, heated to the point that it glows, by natural high voltage electrical sparks. When air heated to that temperature very suddenly, it expands almost instantly. That sharp expansion produces the booming sound of thunder.
How is lightning made
What is it made from? (atom composition?)
They are negative charges of electricity from clouds.
Nuts and bolts

Nothing, it's God's will to kill all with bolts of giant lightning; besides tons of rubber
An atmospheric discharge of static electricity is called lightning.
No. A bolt of lightning is made of plasma, which is ionized gas.
Jupiter was commonly associated with his lightning bolts. His Greek equivalent was Zeus. The lightning bolts were made for him by the cyclopes.
Hephaestus is the god of fire in greek mythology. The Cyclopes, working in Hephaestus' forge, made the lightning bolts. Vulcan is the god of fire in roman mythology!
lightning bolts occur in the clouds.
The cyclops made the lightning bolts for Zeus.
He was not a warrior, but his assistants made the lightning bolts for Zeus.
it was the lightning bolts
Lightning bolts, from his hands. Not only was he the king of Gods in Greek religion, but he was also the God of Storms, providing him lightning as his weapon.
5,000 bolts
Lightning bolts are not straight because they are looking for the path of least resistance Lightning bolts want to find the path of least resistance so they can make it to the ground faster. Lightning bolts are zig-zag because they are finding the easiest path to the ground.
fast
God.
He has lightning bolts.
