You're fishing for "lines of latitude", although I don't believe
I've ever seen or heard a weaker or less useful description.

Latitude lines are imaginary lines that run East to West but measure North to South on the Globe. I remember latitude is fatitude. Longitude lines go North to South but measure East to West. I remember it as LONGitude.
Latitude lines. What helps me remember this is the word "latter", which sounds like "latitude". Ladders go up and down, and the lines MEASURE up and down (north and south). Longitude measures left and right (east and west), and can be remembered from the word "long".
