Magnitude means size. Direction means which way something is going. We use these ideas when talking about vectors like force and velocity. Velocity is speed in a particular direction. If 2 objects are travelling at a speed of 5 miles per hour, but one is going north and the other is going east, then they have different velocities.

A velocity vector tells you two things?

Speed (which is a magnitude), and the direction.Speed (which is a magnitude), and the direction.Speed (which is a magnitude), and the direction.Speed (which is a magnitude), and the direction.

A vector is a quantity with magnitude and ___?

A vector is described by magnitude and direction (a scalar has only magnitude).

A force has both what?

A force is a vector quantity because it has both magnitude and direction.

Why is speed scalar?

because it has a magnitude but no direction, whereas vector quantities have a magnitude and a direction.

Is speed a scalar?

because it has a magnitude but no direction, whereas vector quantities have a magnitude and a direction.

What is An arrow drawn to represent the direction and magnitude of an object is referred to as?

There is no such thing as the direction or magnitude of an object. The direction and magnitude of its speed, acceleration, or momemtum, or of the forces on it, are represented by vectors.
