Note-taking is needed for class lectures. You can use a variety of methods, but you should choose a method that works for you. Notes are not just scribbling down words. Notes should capture enough of the lecture statements to help you study. You can use stars beside important points, or underline or circle them. You can draw arrows between important points, or to replace words like "leads to".Notes should never try to copy the speaker's full sentences. Capture just the main words and put the rest into your own words, with enough detail that helps you remember the point.
When taking notes for effective studying, remember to be organized, use abbreviations, and focus on key points. Review and summarize your notes regularly, and try different methods like Cornell notes or mind mapping to enhance understanding and retention.
When taking notes, I typically use a combination of digital tools and traditional methods. For digital notes, I prefer applications like Microsoft OneNote or Notion for their organizational features. When writing by hand, I opt for a good-quality notebook and pens to enhance my focus and retention. Ultimately, the choice depends on the context and my personal preference for the task at hand.
Many instructors are utilizing computer technology by making power point lectures available online "web-notes" for students' use. Some notes are available before the class lecture and some afterwards. These "web-notes" become a "hybrid text" and require new methods of note-taking by students. Web-notes can be a wonderful notetaking aid if used wisely because students who actively process information by taking notes are more effective learners. The parallel note-taking strategy allows students to keep up with a power point lecture by relieving them of the burden of trying to take notes simultaneously from two sources: the power point presentation and the lecture accompanying it

B.I have found that taking notes is helpful; it makes me pay attention to what my teachers say.
Some popular note-taking methods include the Cornell Method, Mind Mapping, and Outline Method. The Cornell Method involves dividing the page into sections for cues, notes, and a summary, making it useful for reviewing lecture material. Mind Mapping visually organizes information around a central idea, ideal for brainstorming sessions. The Outline Method uses a hierarchical structure to organize topics and subtopics, which is effective for detailed lecture notes or structured writing.
