Any of a set of three or more alleles, or only two of which can be present in a diploid organism.
multiple alleles are any of a set of three alleles, or genes existing in more than two allelic forms.
A multiple allele is when a gene has more than two alleles.

If you look up "The Two Hit Theory", im sure that will answer your question better than I can. But from my knowledge, you have two alleles, one from your father and one from your mother. If both of your alleles are "hit", you'll get cancer. But if just one is "hit", you still have the other for back up. Things like smoking, or excessive tanning can cause a "hit" as well as genetics.

Multiple: More than one.

Allele: An allele is an alternative form of a gene (one member of a pair)

2 alleles put together are considered a genotype, or the genetic constitution. (Rr, hh, TT, etc) DNA sequences result in different traits.

In a diploid organism there are two alleles for a gene. The presence of multiple alleles can be evidenced in ABO blood types.

They contain equivalent sets of genes on them, providing the potential for different versions of genes to exist in a population.
