Food preservatives are substances 'that are added to food items in order to inhibit, retard or arrest the process of fermentation, acidification, and decomposition of food items'. Or, in other words, preservatives in food help keep the food safe, without spoiling, for longer.

Why is organic healthy?

Organic food is healthy because it does not contain any pesticides or harmful preservatives. An example of a harmful perservative is high fructose corn syrup (aka HFC or corn sugar). This perservative is said to be better than sugar, but in reality it causes the eater to not be able to taste normal sugar sweetness so they end up eating more to fulfill their tastes. This chemically altered sweatener also reacts with our bodies so it actually makes more fat. So eat organic foods!! They are much better for our bodies!
