This was an interesting exercise. I was originally going to compile one combined list, but I found it interesting to see the changes over time from the 1950 season's top six were three live dramas and three comedy/variety shows. Then by 1958, there are five westerns and one variety show. And you may well ask, "Who the heck was Arthur Godfrey?"
My bet would be Ozzie & Harriet Nelson. They had a very popular tv situation comedy show.
