Metamorphic. By contrast, igneous rocks form from lava or magma, and sedimentary rock form from sediment. Those things are formed from previous rocks, but constitute intermediate stages: igneous and sedimentary rocks are formed indirectly from previous rocks.

Are there any foliated rocks in Pennsylvania?

There should be plenty of foliated metamorphic rocks in Pennsylvania, due to the erosion of the Appalachian Mountains. Another source for foliated metamorphic rocks in Pennsylvania would be from glacial drift dropped from previous glacial episodes which were torn and transported from areas in Canada.

What is Aruba made of?

Three main rock groups make up Aruba. One, igneous rocks were formed from volcanic activity that occurred about 90 to 95 million years ago. Igneous rocks on Aruba include diabase, tuffs [from Italian 'tufo'], and schists. Two, metamorphic rocks were formed from previous existing rocks that were transformed by high temperatures and pressure. Metamorphic rocks on Aruba include quartz diorite, gabbro, and a distinctive variety of quartz diorite called 'hooibergite.' Three, sedimentary rocks were formed on top of the older igenous and metamorphic rocks. Sedimentary rocks are the youngest rocks on Aruba. Limestone is the sedimentary rock on Aruba. What are the groups of rocks?

They are Sedimentary rocks, Igneous rocks, and Metamorphic rocks.

What the types of rocks?

There are three main types of rocks found on earth and they are; Igneous: are intrusive rocks that have come up from with the mantle or the earths crust. For instance a granite is an intrusive or extrusive rock that was either erupted (extrusive) from a volcano or but brought up in a magma chamber (intrusive), whilst a basalt is a lava flow and is volcanic. Sedimentary: is rock made from sediment being deposited over millions of years and then hardened under pressure, temperature and diagenesis. A sandstone or a mudstone are the best examples of sedimentary rocks. Sedimentary rocks are divided in to two different groups siliciclastic rocks and carbonate rocks. Metamorphic: are any of the two previous rock types that have had either there physical or chemical structure changed due to pressure or temperature. An example of this is for sedimentary rock a sandstone is metamorphosed into a quartzite and for igneous rocks a granite is metamorphosed into a gneiss.
