The strong nuclear force.
Protons & Neutrons
In the nucleas
Protons and neutrons are located in the nucleus.
The nucleus of an atom is located at the center of the atom. It contains protons and neutrons, which are held together by strong nuclear forces. The nucleus makes up the majority of the atom's mass and has a positive charge due to the protons it contains.
to find their way into the nucleas and bang with the protons.
The Mass Number.
It has 20 neutrons and 20 protons.
A covalent bond is held together by the attractions between the protons in the nucleus and shared electrons.
Nuclear particles are held together by the strong nuclear force, which is one of the four fundamental forces of nature. This force is responsible for binding protons and neutrons together in the atomic nucleus.
Protons are made up of quarks: two up, one down. The quarks are are held together by gluons and the strong force (similar to gravity, in a way). The protons are then bound to the neutrons by the same strong force.
The total of number of protons in the nucleas gives you the atomic number.
6 protons and 6 neutrons in C-12 isotope
