The reeds in a 2 stroke engine perform the same task as intake valves in a 4 stroke engine. The reeds are mounted to a flat plate, or a cage, positioned behind the carburetor(s). On the intake / compression stroke, the reeds are pulled open, exposing the holes milled into the plate, or cage, allowing the fuel charge to be pulled into the engine crankcase from the carburetor. During the power, or exhaust stroke, as the piston moves down the cylinder, the reed valves are forced back against the plate / cage, preventing the fuel charge from being forced back out of the crankcase. This fuel charge is then forced around the crankshaft, (lubricating the rods and bearings), and into intake ports, which are milled into the side of the cylinder wall. As the piston travels back up the cylinder, the intake port is closed off, the exhaust from the previous stroke is expelled, and a fresh fuel charge is drawn into the crankcase via the reed valves. This cycle is repeated over and over, amazing these engines are so durable.
Oil used in a 2 stroke motor is specially engineered to provide lubrication and to burn. The oil is burned in the combustion chamber.
DT model engines are 2 stroke
2 stroke how many onces of oil mix with fulel 2 stroke
well if its a 2 stroke it needs new reeds if not, your timing is prolly off a bit
A 15 hp game fisher motor is most often a 2 stroke engine. However there can also be a 15 hp game fisher motor that is a 4 stroke as well.
if your scooter has a engine oil dip stick then it is a four stroke. if it has a oil tank that you have to put oil in then it is 2 stroke.
Make sure you have a new (right kind) of spark plug. Next I would say you may have to rejet your carb. But it could also be your air filter or reeds(if a 2 stroke). If plug, reeds (if a 2 stroke) and air filter are all good, I'd guess a rich main jet.
Because both valves (or reeds in the case of some 2 stroke motors) in the cylinder head are closed and it is compressing the air and fuel i so the mixture will ignite and cause combustion or firing of the mixture to create power to cycle the motor through the exhaust and into the next compression stroke.
2 stroke motorbikes are more powerful and I'm not sure on the advantages of a 4 stroke motor bike but i have a 4 stroke and i think its more for beginners
It is a 2-stroke
How much doe a 1997 2 stroke johnson outboard motor weigh
You should use the appropriate oil for the type of motor it is. 4-strokes should have 4-stroke oil and 2-strokes should have 2-stroke oil. my friend bought a used 4 stroke 4 wheeler and the first day the oil started shooting from the head, she took it back and he ran hoses from crankcaase to head, and the previous owner told her to use 2 stroke in crankcase.makes no sence unless hes rigged it up to work temporaraly.
