Hysterectomy side effects are those little or not so little changes in your body, moods, general behaviour and lifestyle that will surely surface if you opt for the surgery, regardless of whether you want them or not.
A hysterectomy is removal of the uterus (womb). Total hysterectomy is removal of cervix as well as womb. If fallopian tubes are removed this is a salpingomectomy. If Ovaries are removed the this is ooopherectomy. So it depends on what your quetion is.
If you are talking about a plain ot total hysterectomy then you will no longer have a uterus and therefore will be unable to bear children. You will still menstruate and your body will stiil receive estrogen etc from the ovaries. If you have a total hysterectomy with bilateral (both) salpingo oopherectomy then all reproductive organs will have been removed and as there are no ovaries you will be paced into immediate menopause with all usual effects of this (hot flashes etc). If only one ovary is left then you will still get the benefit of the estrogem (unilateral)
Other than the normal discomfort of the surgery & recovery, the symptoms are the immediate onset of MENOPAUSE.
Hot flashes, anxiety, insomnia, loss of sex drive & vaginal dryness, moody cranky & joint pain just to mention a few
Pain in both sides of the body after having a hysterectomy is because of the incisions made during the surgery. The nerve endings will be sore and painful for a while, because they take time to grow back together. The pain itself should only last a few weeks, but the tenderness can last for a few months.
no more babies...
A hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus. Some side effects may include infections, damage to nearby organs, excessive bleeding, and one might become nauseous from the anesthesia.
It is not one of the usual side effects of a hysterectomy. Bear in mind however that your body is getting used to your new status and your immune system may be lowered increasing the risk of any infection.
Nothing that will not damage you permanently. Periods are a natural part of life. The only way to stop them without harmful side effects of medication is to have a hysterectomy.
This is a fairly common misconception, people often think that when their cats and dogs get spayed there are little effects. This is not true, a spay is just as serious in an animal as it is when a woman has a hysterectomy. Only our pets do not show pain in the same way humans do because animals have adapted to not show weaknesses in order to survive and not be predated upon by other animals. This is why after being spayed it is recommended that your pet remain indoors and rest for 6 weeks. This is roughly the same as a human woman would rest after having a hysterectomy. Spaying an animal is by no means an easy or routine operation in the way people believe.
