Weapons used to attack castles or forts; such as catapaults, grapling hooks, battering rams, or cannons. Let's not forget the shovel. Sappers dig toward a particular wall and dig out the foundations causing the wall to collapse. This was done at Tyre by the Crusaders.

Siege weapons and fortification were known to have been invented long before the armies of ancient Greece. These were towers and walls used to provide defense ans well as offensive. Armies of ancient Asia were known as the first peoples to utilize such weapons in warfare as early as 2,000 BC. These "weapons and fortifications" were later perfected in ancient times by the Greeks and later Roman armies.
