hah ha hah i dont no hahahahha
no a grinding problem is usually in side the trans and what is grinding are the gears...there are brass bushing called sincros that help transfer from gear to gear...since the "sincros" are brass they wear and when they wear there isn't the smooth transaction from gear to gear...sincros are really cheap but to have them installed gets pricey because of the labor time..
You may have lost or worn your sincros.
This depends on the extent of the damage , a full inspection must be performed on transmission. Your mechanic will evaluate the damage and tell you what parts need replacing. Sincros, bearings , gears and input shafts can all be damaged when a gear fails.
a new/used trans would be cheaper than repairing the old one, and thats assuming you can find parts for the old one. (sincros, gears, thrust washers and possibly shift forks) my advice would be call your local shop and get a price quote. or if you are a do it yourselfer call your local salvage yard.
