I really don't know Ollie. Are you a beginner, a kid, an adult, what are your interests? Wood skimboards are typically for kids and beginners who want to learn or get a taste for skimboarding. If you want to find out more about wood skimboards, you can contact http://www.victoriaskimboards.com. Otherwise, you can also contact Chuck at http://www.oakstreetsurf.com and discuss what you are really looking for.
they dont make plastic skimboards but i think ur talkin about a fiberglass skimboard. advantages of a fiberglass skimboards are 1.)they go faster 2.)there easier to do tricks on and 3.) its easier to ride
Asking which flatland skimboard is the best is kind of like asking which car manufacturer is the best. Ask five different people and get five different answers. But there is definitely a group of board manufacturers that have risen above the rest. A few good brands are DB, Victoria, J-Gordon, and Kayotic. For more information on flatland skimboards and interviews with the main board manufacturers, check out http://inlandskimboarding.blogspot.com/search/label/Skimboards Happy board hunting!!!
The tailpad is a piece of rubber that goes on the back of surfboards or skimboards to help the surfer gain traction to the board.
The best traction pad for skimboarding would be Freak traction. Freak traction is designed to be compatible with skimboards and generally skimboards only. Although you may use any traction pads on a skimboard, it wont stick on the board as long and you'll end up wasting your money.
If your ability is such that you are only good on wooden ones then yes but for most people fiberglass is faster. Both fiberglass and wooden boards suck, you should try either E-glass or Texilum boards, go to your local surf shop and ask if they have any Zap boards.
no not really try some other company like..... i dont really know many companies but i know that nemo is not a good one sorry
Circle-One is a surfing goods store and sells many related products like wetsuits, bodyboards, surfboards, kiteboards, skimboards, skateboards, board bags and snorkles.
Wooden skimboards float but cannot ride on waves well because they do not float well with people on them, for that u would have to buy a fiberglass or a carbon skimboard. Some good sites to check that I use are; www.exileskimboards.com, www.zapskimboards.com, www.victoriaskimboards.com, or www.skimonline.com. But if you aren't that serious about skimming and just want to keep your wooden one, just stick to wet sand and the shallows brah.
fiberglass skim boards are the way to go. Alot cheaper than kevlar boards. a 44" board is a little small but would work well for a light rider. The price really depends on the brand. Good brands to look out for are Victoria and triple x.
