The Bible teaches that the forces of evil - Satan and his demons - are constantly trying to 'enlist' mankind to their negative ways. As the heart is the 'center' of our beings, the Bible speaks to where evil comes from:

Matthew 15:18-20

18 But the things that come out of a person's mouth come from the heart, and these defile them. 19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts-murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.

20 These are what defile a person; but eating with unwashed hands does not defile them."

Proverbs 4:23

No one is strong enough to overcome this negative messaging by oneself - we need God's help - via His Holy Spirit aka the Spirit of Christ which makes us 'in-tune' with God's way of love:
