When God created Adam, He placed Him in His Garden (Eden) to be the manager - to tend and keep it. He brought all the birds and animals He had made before Adam so he should name each of them. This shows Adam as the manager of all of God's creation.
Genesis 2:19New King James Version (NKJV)19 Out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name.
After the Flood, God made some of the animals food for mankind. He also put a weariness in all creatures of mankind. Yet, He never removed our responsibility to take care of His creation - though now with our knowledge of good and evil and not direct guidance from God. So some do a good job while others do a horrific job. This is the nature of mankind - the god of this world's nature.
Of course the person begotten of God today, having His Holy Spirit within them, is guided by Him to do all good works and will be a good manager of all in the Creation as this is God Will.
