I believe that you will find the Aboriginal Dreamtime is quite similar to the Native American Indian's quests, ie the dreamtime is state of mind that brings answers to the person in the dreamtime that they are missing when they are awake which is similar to the quests for the Native American Indian's. I am not sure of any other cultures that practice this, but I am sure there are plenty. i am sorry but this is not a very good explonation of my question!!

Aboriginal art goes back more then 30,000 years There are examples of different types and styles of aboriginal art all over Australia and evidence of it going back thousands of years so no one has yet been able to quite put their finger on the answer to this question
This is impossible to answer on many counts. First, the stories were not invented, but grew over many tens of thousands of years as the people adapted and conformed to their continent. Second. Aboriginal people have an oral, not written, tradition, so we can't point to written references as we can with some ancient, but younger cultures such as China. Third. The Dreamtime (it should always have a capital D) stories exist on several levels. One level is secret and sacred. It regulate the law, including the way the country is sung, and is not fully divulged to anyone without the power and knowledge to cope with the secrets involved. Another level is the parts of the stories that are told to children and the non-initiated. The stories explain why animals behave as they do and contain moral lessons essential to survival of both the individual and society. Perhaps a disappointing answer, but it answers the question if a little briefly.
Some unique cultural traditions found in Australia include Aboriginal art, the Dreamtime stories, traditional bush tucker (food), and ceremonies such as corroborees and smoking ceremonies. These traditions are important aspects of Indigenous Australian culture and have been passed down through generations.
