Well, the big one was her death. Also, self-image issues. She was called the "ugly duckling" during her early years at MGM. Her front teeth weren't straight, so she had to wear a removable cap when she was shooting scenes. She had to be kept at a certain weight, and had weight issues from then on. And she had to wear little removable discs to reshape her nose during scenes as well.
When she was filming The Wizard of Oz, they had to film for about 72 hours straight. In order to do so they were given "pep up pills," which contained speed. When they were allowed to sleep, they were given sleeping pills. Then the cycle would continue again to the "pep up pills." And this is what shaped the rest of her life and her struggle with addiction, which then led to her untimely death from an accidental overdose.
