During my trip to Rome, I realized pretty quickly that the city is overflowing with history—so much that choosing where to start can feel overwhelming. But these five spots truly made the experience unforgettable: The Colosseum – No matter how many photos you’ve seen, walking inside feels surreal. The sheer size is unreal. Trevi Fountain – I showed up early one morning and got to see it almost empty. Easily one of my favorite moments. Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel – Yes, it’s crowded, but the art hits different when you see it in person. Pantheon – This one surprised me the most. The sunlight through the oculus gives the entire place a calm, beautiful glow. Roman Forum – Wandering through the ruins here is like stepping back thousands of years. You can easily spend hours. I ended up using Pinerary to help sort the order of my stops so I wasn’t running back and forth across the city—it made the days way smoother without forcing me into a strict schedule. Rome definitely gets busy, but timing things right makes these places absolutely worth the hype.
