The Edwards Plateau is a region of west-central Texas. The Ouachita Mountains are buried there. The Balcones Fault is there. So is the Llano Uplift and Enchanted Rock.
Catastrophic events such as floods, hurricanes, and mild tornadoes occur in a rainforest.
there are hurricanes, typhoons, earthquakes and floods, also, famine and diseases.
No, most of them are slow and not that harsh events which make the rock older and older. In other cases some catastrophic events make erosion become faster. Erosion is a slow process in which the rock becomes worned out. Weathering is the weather which erodes the rocks slowly.
Catastrophic insurance coverage includes many damage or events caused by both natural disasters or other accidental damage to your home. Damage by events such as flooding, lightning, wind damage, and other weather events are generally covered. Some catastrophic insurance coverage policies also cover damage done by fire, but check with your insurance company to be sure.
While catastrophic events, such as natural disasters or pandemics, are not strictly inevitable, their occurrence is influenced by various factors, including environmental, social, and technological conditions. While we can mitigate risks and adapt to certain threats, the unpredictability of nature and human behavior means that some level of catastrophe remains a possibility. Preparedness and resilience can help communities better withstand and recover from such events, but they cannot eliminate them entirely. Ultimately, while we can reduce the likelihood and impact of catastrophic events, we cannot completely prevent them.
Some causes of catastrophic changes to Earth's surfaces include volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, asteroid impacts, and tsunamis. These events can result in widespread destruction and alter landscapes in a short period of time.
There is supposed to be some low grade opal in Texas, my guess would be around the SE corner near Louisiana. Lots of cool rocks and fossils all over, but if you want facetable gems, the Llano Uplift (an hour or two from Austin?) would be a good spot. Google Mason and Llano TX and see if you can find some maps or rock shops to get you closer. The state gem for Texas is topaz. It is found around the Mason, Tx, area. There are a couple of places that will let you dig for them. Do a search on the internet.
