Now a day, Coffee and plantain are the mayor crops. Those markets are declining also as industrialism and technology work is taking over agricultury.

Puerto Rico's agriculture "Top 10" consists of four animal industries and six crops. The dairy industry is No. 1, followed by plantains, poultry, ornamental plants, seed production (corn, soybean, sunflower, etc. for US farmers), coffee, beef and veal, tomatoes (about 70% is exported to the US during the winter months), pork, and hay.

Agriculture contributed $712.31 million to Puerto Rico's gross domestic product (GDP) in fiscal 2008-2009 (July-June), 10% below the previous year, which was $791.98 millones, according to Puerto Rico Department of Agricultura statistics.

The animal industries combined -milk, poultry, beef & veal, and pork- generated $340.37 milones, or 47.78% of the total agriculture production in fiscal 2008-2009. The six main crops -plantains, ornamental plants, seeds, coffee, tomatoes, and hay- generated $194.20 million, the remaining 26% of the island's total GDP.

Sugar cane and tobacco, two of the island's top three agricultural industries -coffee being the third- until the late 1960s, are no longer commercially grown.
