Density-dependent factors are factors that limit population growth such as, a natural disaster, disease, drought, fire, etc.

May I add, food supply also falls under the density-dependent factor that involves population growth. When this happens, population does not level off but usually plunges down. In the factor of disease, an example would be the Great Black Plegue in England. It wiped out many people in just weeks.
