Most 4 year colleges and universities will accept your AA units since they meet the general education requirements.
Some students prefer to start with the associates degree, while others apply directly to the university of interest.
No it does not. Some students pursue the associate degree first and then transfer to a four year institution to finish the bachelor's degree. However, pursing a bachelors degree does not automatically give you an associates degree.
There are some community colleges that have a music option. Still, even if the school does not offer that option, a liberal arts degree would be fine for transfer.
You can pursue any bachelor's degree you want to. If you have completed an associates degree, the amount of courses that can be transferred from the associates degree will depend on which bachelor's degree you choose. Some associates degrees are fully transferable to a bachelor's within the same field. Others are very career oriented and do not transfer well, such as some associates of applied science degrees. Still, that depends on whether the college has articulation agreements with other four years colleges and universities. Do not choose a bachelor's degree solely on the amount of credits you can transfer, but because it will lead you to your overall career goals and objectives. It you you not have one, then you need to find your passion with vision. A clearly articulated picture of the future you intend to create for yourself. Once you have that, your path will become clear.

I hate how some applications don't have "Associates Degree" as an option. If you have an associates degree and you are filling out an application like that, you should write "Associates Degree in ____" on the side. I think that shows pride in your achievements, and you deserve to feel proud of getting an associates degree. "Some college" does not mean "associates degree". Someone who took 2 college classes could check "some college", and you took about 20. I agree with the above contributor. Applications should have a designation for the completion of an Associates degree. An Associates degree shows completion. There are Associates degrees as an Registered nurse, in Technology, Educating, multiple Allied Health fields, and the list goes on, and on, and on. As stated above, if it were me I would make sure I indicated the Associates degree on the application. Viper1
A bachelors degree can take between 120 and 128 credits to complete depending on the college or university, and the specific program of study. Thus, when transferring to a four year institution, you would have to complete an additional 60 to 64 credits. This is provided that the school you transfer to accepts your associates degree, full faith in credit. Some institutions can be very strict on what they accept. However, the associates in arts degree is typically a transfer program, so you should be fine.
You would want to check into the civil engineering degree first to see if the associate credits are going to be transferable. That way, when you look at the associates, you will know whether it will end up being more efficient to start at a community college and then transfer than to get an associates. Of course, if there will be some delay, then an associates may be the way to go.
