Two examples of irony is when scouts 3rd grade teacher criticizes Hitler for being prejudice when she is just as prejudice towards a different race. The other one is when the girls are talking about Mr.Everett and denounce Atticus when really they are praising everett for defending the needy and Atticus in his own way defending the needy.

In "To Kill a Mockingbird," examples of self-pride can be seen in characters like Atticus Finch who demonstrates pride in standing up for what is right, despite facing criticism from his community. Another example is Scout Finch who takes pride in her father's integrity and courage, as well as in her own ability to challenge societal expectations and prejudices. Additionally, characters like Boo Radley and Tom Robinson exhibit self-pride in maintaining their dignity and humanity, even in the face of injustice.

Mrs. Gates is against Hitler because he is persecuting Jews thousands of miles away when they haven't done anything, but she overlooks the fact that people are persecuting blacks in her own town, but she thinks that is alright. The same goes for the ladies of the missionary circle--they all praise the missionary man for saving Mruans and how it so great that he is helping these non-religious "heathens" but dislikes Atticus for defending Tom. The thirties court system holds truth and justice as its biggest factor yet condemns toms when the evidence clearly suggests that he is innocent.

During the court case, Atticus Finch states that "Our courts have their faults,as do any institution, but in our country, the courts are the great levelers..." (Lee 205). Atticus uses this statement in order to elevate the importance of maintaining equality and unbiased opinions to the jurors.
