The most famous landmarks in the Northern Territory are Kata Tjuta (Many Heads) and Uluru (Ayers Rock)--the largest monolith in the world. Both are located in a national park approximately 4 hours from the nearest town of Alice Springs. They are sacred monuments to the native aboriginal people, many of whom still reside in the area. Another landmark somewhat nearby is Mount Connor.
