A fashion model's career is very focused on his or her appearance. Much of the sacrifices a fashion model makes is revolved around keeping their looks. A fashion model has to make sure their figure is always within the right guidelines, depending on the designer or brand they are modeling for. If it is a high fashion model, figure guidelines are much more strict. Models can't just indulge all of the time, as any slight weight gain can really hurt their career. A high fashion model also has to make sure they take care of their face. The high fashion world doesn't take aging too kindly. If it is a swimsuit or lingerie model (Victoria's Secret, for example), they have to make sure they follow certain diets and exercise programs to look fit enough for the brand's image.
Moral compromises sometimes have to be made as a model as well. For example, a designer may want a model to be semi-nude or pose in a risque way. If a model says no, they can really hurt their career. Modeling is not for the shy or modest.
